#336. Pastoral Landscape.

  15 x 18, oil on canvas. No signature visible on the painting. A frame plate says: "G Munger". A torn paper label on the back of the original stretcher shows 'lbert', probably in the artists hand. The back of the canvas shows the following material supplier's stamp:

The firm became LIMITED in 1881. Munger was actively painting in France by this point, but still living in London. Based on similarity to other identified examples, this locale is French and likely the plains near the village of Barbizon. Offered for $15,000 (or best offer) in the fall of 2023 on EBay by the seller "roblau4434" as item number 145228367331, where it probably did not sell. Then Art Legacy Auctions of Chicago offered it as lot 8950, starting price $4,900, in several liveauctioneers.com online sales in April, May, and June 2024, where is was passed.
