Image Manipulation

Initially, image source materials in this catalog of pictures by Gilbert Munger were scanned at 600 dpi into Photoshop using the sRGB color space, then reduced to 1000 pixels for the longest dimension and saved as a "high" quality jpg. These days most picture images arrive as .jpg files from the web or in emails. I have no control over how they are made. Whatever the source, if needed for clarity, Photoshop is applied to correct distortions, brightness, contrast, the white point, and sharpness.

The images that appear directly on the picture description pages, and the color target below, are resized to 600 pixels for the longest dimension. To see the bigger version click one of these images. Recently the size of new bigger images has be increased to 1,250 pixels. Expand your browser window if they don't fit. Of the 336 pictures in the catalog, 32 have no images.
