#192. Franchard pres Fontainebleau.

17 x 25, oil on board. "Gilbert Munger 1892" lower left. This painting shows the same scene as #51 and a similar scene to #269. From the collection of Hon. Lyman A. Mills of Middlefield CT in 1923 to the Hartford Connecticut Atheneum, on the occasion of its exhibition of his collection, starting 12 November 1923. Mills was the Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut from 1899 to 1901. He had at least 15 Mungers. The Atheneum deaccessioned the painting in 1950, after which its location was unknown until it was sold to the current owner by Maxwell Galleries, San Francisco, in 1990. A label on the upper right-hard corner of the back reads "Franchard pres Fontainebleau - Gilbert Munger," not in Munger's hand. Also a black ink block stamp reads "15." Image from owner's email.
